If you want to create virtual hacking labs or test malware in a safe environment, VMware Workstation Pro is one of the best tools for the job. It lets you run multiple operating systems (like Kali Linux or any other OS) as virtual machines (VMs) on your main OS — no rebooting required.
In this tutorial, we’ll walk you step-by-step through installing VMware Workstation Pro on Windows.
✅ System Requirements
Before you install, make sure your PC meets these requirements:
- 64-bit Windows 10/11 (Home or Pro)
- At least 8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended)
- Intel VT-x or AMD-V enabled in BIOS
- Admin privileges on your machine
🧩 Step 1: Download VMware Workstation Pro
- Visit the official VMware site:
👉 https://www.vmware.com/products/workstation-pro.html - Click "Download Now" for Workstation Pro for Windows.
- Save the
.exefile to your desktop.

⚙️ Step 2: Run the Installer
- Double-click the
.exefile you downloaded. - If prompted by UAC (User Account Control), click Yes.
- The VMware Setup Wizard will open.
🔧 Step 3: Follow the Installation Wizard
- Click Next on the welcome screen.
- Accept the license agreement and click Next.
- Choose your installation location (default is fine).
- Select whether to:
- Enable keyboard driver
- Check for product updates on startup
- Join the VMware Customer Experience Program (optional)
- Then click Next.
🔑 Step 4: Enter License Key (Optional)
- If you are using it for personal use. The License Key is not necessary.
- But if using for professional use you have to buy a License Key.
Don't use cracked software
.📦 Step 5: Complete the Installation
- Click Install and wait for the process to finish.
- Once installed, click Finish.
- Launch VMware Workstation Pro.
That's it! You're ready to create and manage virtual machines.
Note: The installation process may change with change in versions of VMware Workstation.
